Fast Fiveopened to better-than-anticipated numbers this weekend -- bringing in $83.6 million opening weekend.
It is the biggest movie opening so far in 2011 and set a new April opening record. The film also did much better than 2009'sFast and the Furiousand ended up being Universal biggest opening weekend ever.
The success ofFast Fivealso knockedRiodown to second place after two weeks on top. But, the animated comedy still did well -- it brought in another $14.4 million, bringing its grand total to $103.6 million domestically.
The other two opening films didn't bring do quite as well. Promonly brought in $5 million, but was estimated to do much better. Hoodwinked Too!: Hood vs. Evilwasn't expected to do as well, but still managed $4.1 million.
