First Look: Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss!

First look at Katniss!  Jennifer Lawrence graces thecover of the latest issueof Entertainment Weekly as Katniss Everdeen inThe Hunger Games. 

Lawrence's locks have changed from their usual blonde to Katniss' signature brown do.  She is also wearing the gold mockingjay pin and has her bow and arrows on her back.  She looks amazing!  What do you think about the new Katniss?

She admits toEWthat she had reservations when she was first offered the part.

“I knew that as soon as I said yes, my life would change. And I walked around an entire day thinking‘It’s not too late, I could still go back and do indies, I haven’t said yes yet, it’s not too late... I love this story, and if I had said no, I would regret it every day.”

“He was asking me what the experience was like,” she recalls,“and I just kind of opened up and said,‘I feel like a rag doll. I have hair and makeup people coming to my house every day and putting me in new, uncomfortable, weird dresses and expensive shoes, and I just shut down and raise my arms up for them to get the dress on, and pout my lips when they need to put the lipstick on.’ And we both started laughing because that’s exactly what it’s like for Katniss in the Capitol. She was a girl who’s all of a sudden being introduced to fame. I know what that feels like to have all this flurry around you and feel like,‘Oh, no, I don’t belong here.’”

Titanic To Hit Theaters Again

Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment jointly announced today that James Cameron'sTitanicwill be re-released around the world on April 6, 2012.

The re-release will mark the 100th anniversary of the Titanic setting sail on April 10, 1912 and will feature the film in 3D for the first time ever.

It makes sense to re-release this one asTitanicis the second-highest grossing movie of all time and it's also one only of three films to have received 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

The 3D conversion has been in the works for a long time now and if Cameron'sAvataris any indication, they will do a very good job of converting this one to 3D as well.

"There's a whole generation that's never seen 'Titanic' as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen,"Cameron said in a statement."And this will be 'Titanic' as you've never seen it before, digitally re-mastered at 4K and painstakingly converted to 3D. With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike."

Coincidentally 2012 is also the 100th anniversary of Paramount Pictures, so the re-release has a special double meaning

Hunger Games News: Octavia and Portia Cast

Lionsgate has officially announced two of the glam squad roles inThe Hunger Games. Latarsha Rose and Brooke Bundy will play Portia and Octavia.

Portia is Peeta's stylist in the book, while Octavia is a member of Katniss' prep team.  They play a huge role in making Peeta and Katniss favorites in the first 'Hunger Games.'

Again, director Gary Ross has cast relative newcomers to the roles.  Rose has appeared in a small television roles and Bundy has had small parts in short films.

It will be interesting to see how this cast of newcomers work together and bring the beloved Suzanne Collins' novel to the big screen.

But who will play Katniss' main stylist Cinna?  We are so excited to see who they will cast in that role.

Two New Clips From The Hangover Part 2 Released

Warner Bros. has just released two new clips fromThe Hangover Part 2set to hit theaters on May 26th. 

The sequel stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Jeffrey Tambor, Mike Tyson, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong, Bryan Callen and Nick Cassavetes.

This time the boys are back for another round of hilarity, but this time in Bangkok.  Stu just wants a nice, calm pre-wedding brunch, but the boys have other plans in mind and end up on the streets of Bangkok, and they must get Stu home in time for his wedding.

Check out the two clips below.  In the first one, the boys wake up to find their have no idea where they are or what happened the night before.  The second one they are involved in a gun toting car chase.  They must get away from the gun shots, while trying to navigate the dangerous streets of Bangkok, all while keeping a monkey in the car.  Sounds crazy?  Take a look:

X-Men: First Class Clips and TV Spots

Marvel and 20th Century Fox have released new clips and TV spots.  Check this new 1-minute clip of a scene from the newX-Men: First Class. 

We see Charles Xavier trying to explain the human mutations to a group of government officials.  They don't believe him and think he is a spy -- since he can read their minds.

Jennifer Lawrence is also featured in the clip as Mystique and we see her powers in action as well. She proves to be quite the magician.

Warner Bros. Plans Adaptation of The Lost Years of Merlin

Warner Bros. is moving forward with plans to adapt the T.A Barron young adult seriesThe Lost Years of Merlin, according toTHR.

The book series features 12 parts and newcomer Ed Whitworth is set to adapt the first book in the series for the big screen.  It could become a franchise if this first one does well. 

The series follows the young wizard Merlin who will later become a huge part of the Arthurian legend, starting out his years as a young boy.

The story starts out with Merlin left for dead with no memory of who he is.  He is determined to find out his origins and the truth about his mysterious powers.

Hesher Featurette Offers Great Behind-the-Scenes Look

Check out this new featurette for the upcoming indie dramaHesher.  The movie opens up in theaters this Friday, May 13 and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the title character.

Hesher is a loner who's a little rough around the edges.  He hates the world, until he meets TJ (Devin Brochu).  Hesher squats in TJ and his father, Paul (Rainn Wilson) garage and ends up helping the two deal with loss in a very unconventional way.

Hesheralso stars Natalie Portman and Piper Laurie.

Two New Tree of Life Clips

The Tree of Lifehas been talked about for a while  and now we get to see two more clips from the coming of age film that centers on a boy from his years growing up in the 50's to being an adult.

The Tree of Lifefocuses on the eldest son, Jack, who is trying to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt).  As an adult (played by Sean Penn), Jack finds himself lost in the modern world, seeking answers to the meaning of life.

The first clip shows Pitt, the father, trying to teach his sons how to fight - encouraging them to"hit me."  The second one hints at a family who is happier when their strict father is gone.  It shows the three boys playing and acting silly with their mother when their father is out of town.

Katie Holmes and Chase Crawford in Responsible Adults

Katie Holmes and Chace Crawford ("Gossip Girl") have signed on to star in the romantic comedyResponsible Adults, directed by Jon Poll, for Myriad Pictures.

Holmes will play a 30-year-old med student Liz Quinn, who meets 22-year-old Baxter Wood (Crawford) and their instantly connect.  She soon realizes they have already met -- she was his babysitter 15 years earlier.  But Baxter fights to keep them together as he feels she is the one person who really knows him.

"The script is very funny. Katie Holmes and Chace Crawford are appealing actors around the world,"said Kirk D'Amico, Myriad Pictures CEO."And Jon Poll is a a terrific filmmaker. We are really pleased to help bring Responsible Adults to the big screen."

Casting is underway for other supporting characters.Responsible Adultsis currently scheduled to start principal photography in the fall in Los Angeles.

Kate Walsh Joins The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Kate Walsh is set to join Emma Watson and Logan Lerman inThe Perks of Being a Wallflower, according toEntertainment Weekly. 

Walsh will play a Midwestern mother who is concern about her son (Lerman) who is a high school freshman and very shy. In the novel, he goes under the alias"Charlie"as he describes various scenes in his life by writing a series of letters to an anonymous person, whom he does not know personally. 

He is befriended by a party-girl (Watson), who also happens to be a senior and shows him things he has never before experienced.

Stephen Chbosky, the author of the novel has written the screenplay and will also be directing the film.

The film co-stars Mae Whitman (Parenthood), Johnny Simmons, and Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries). Production is currently underway in Pittsburgh. 

The film is set for a 2012 release.

Paramount Home Video has issued the details for the DVD/Blu-Ray release ofRango,starring Johnny Depp, Abigail Breslin, and Isla Fisher.

Rangosaddles up in a Blu-ray/DVD Combo pack with Digital Copy and on standard DVD on Friday, July 15, 2011.

Directed by Gore Verbinski, Johnny Depp voices Rango, a chameleon living as an ordinary family pet who dreams of being a fearless hero and is challenged to become just that when he inadvertently becomes the sheriff of a lawless desert town called Dirt.

The Blu-Ray includes theatrical and extended version, commentary, featurettes, deleted scenes, and Storyboard Reel Picture in Picture special.  The DVD includes the theatrical release and a digital copy,plus deleted scenes and director commentary.

Glee Live! To Become a Feature FIlm

20th Century Fox announced today thatGlee Live! 3D!, based on the TV show's concert tour, will hit theaters on August 12 for a two week limited engagement.

The film will allow fans who are not able to get tickets to the live show to see some of the best moments from the performances -- or for those who want to experience it again.

The film will feature all the cast members who take part in the live performances will will be shot during the summer concerts.  The film will also feature some special moments involving the characters.

GLEE LIVE! 3D! will include live performances of some of the show’s most memorable musical numbers, including“I’m a Slave 4 U,”“Raise Your Glass,”“Teenage Dream,” and“Lucky,” as well as the original songs that became chart-toppers such as“Loser Like Me,”“Hell to the No!” and“Get it Right,” and of course, the show’s anthem,“Don’t Stop Believin’.”

Danny Boyle to Direct Trance

Danny Boyle will direct the new thrillerTrance,according toDeadline.

The movie will start shooting in London this September and is apparently an art heist gone wrong and is similar to Boyle's filmsShallow GraveandTrainspotting.

The script has been written by Joe Ahearne and will be produced by Christian Colson.

Boylei is also directing the opening ceremonies for next summer's Olympics in London, so he will directTranceand then put it away for a while to direct the opening ceremonies, so it won't be ready until March 2013.

Hunger Games Casting: Wes Bentley Cast as Head Gamemaker Seneca Crane

Lionsgate has announced that Wes Bentley (American Beauty)will play the role of Seneca Crane in the movie adaptation ofThe Hunger Games.

Bentley will play Seneca Crane, the Head Gamemaker  of the 74th annual Hunger Games, the games Katniss and Peeta participate in.  

The Hunger Games, based on the novel by Suzanne Collins, follows Katniss Everdeen as she volunteers herself into the Hunger Games in place of her sister, who beyond all odds, is originally chosen.

Bentley joins Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne, Paula Malcomson as Katniss' mother, Willow Shields as Prim, Katniss' sister, and Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket.

The Hunger Games,directed by Gary Ross, is set to hit theaters on March 23, 2012.

Featured Trailer: Colombiana

Columbia Pictures has released the trailer forColombiana, starring Zoe Saldana and Michael Vartan. 

The action-thriller follows a young woman who, after witnessing her parent's murder, becomes a ruthless killer.  She works for her uncle as a hitman by day, but on her personal time, she spends her time doing vigilante murders hoping that it will lead her to her to the mobsters who are responsible for her parents' death.

The film, directed by Olivier Megaton, is set to hit theaters on September 2, 2011.

Anonymous Poster Released!

Columbia Pictures has released the new poster for Roland Emmerich'sAnonymous.  The film stars Rhys Ifans, Vanessa Redgrave, Joely Richardson, David Thewlis, Xavier Samuel, and Sebastian Armesto.

Anonymousis set in Elizabethan England when Shakespearean plays reigned, but who was the author of those plays credited to William Shakespeare. 

Experts have debated the question around the authorship of Shakespeare's plays for years and this film explores that conspiracy.

Weekend Box Office: Fast Five Breaks Records

Fast Fiveopened to better-than-anticipated numbers this weekend -- bringing in $83.6 million opening weekend. 

It is the biggest movie opening so far in 2011 and set a new April opening record.  The film also did much better than 2009'sFast and the Furiousand ended up being Universal biggest opening weekend ever.

The success ofFast Fivealso knockedRiodown to second place after two weeks on top.  But, the animated comedy still did well -- it brought in another $14.4 million, bringing its grand total to $103.6 million domestically.

The other two opening films didn't bring do quite as well. Promonly brought in $5 million, but was estimated to do much better. Hoodwinked Too!: Hood vs. Evilwasn't expected to do as well, but still managed $4.1 million.

Hunger Games Casting: District Three Tributes Cast

The tributes for District 3 are the latest to have been cast in the movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins'The Hunger Games.

Newcomers Ian Nelson and Kalia Prescott will play the male and female Tributes from District 3. 

They never officially gets names in the book, as most of the district tributes don't, but Prescott's character has a sad goodbye scene in the book as she bids farewell to her parents and younger siblings. 

Meanwhile, during training we find out that Nelson's character is good at electronics and technology. 

The Hunger Gamesalso stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, Liam Hemsworth as Gale, and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta.

The film is set for a March 2012 release.

Just Announced: Date for the 84th Academy Awards

Some key dates for next year's Academy Awards has already been announced by Academy president Tom Sherak.

The Academy announced today that the 84th annual Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 26, 2012. 

The ceremony will again take place at the Kodak Theater at Hollywood& Highland Center in Hollywood.  It will be televised again by ABC.

Nomination announcements will take place on January 24, 2012 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Vera Farmiga Set to Star in Safe House

Vera Farmiga is set to join the thrillerSafe House, according toDeadline.She will join Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington and will play a supervisor to Ryan Reynold's character.

Reynolds stars as a young CIA agent who becomes a house sitter at a governmental safe house.  Washington will play a criminal who is being housed there, but will need to be transported safely to another house when the safe house is attacked.

Safe Houseis currently filming in South Africa and is set to be released on February 10, 2012.

Farmiga recently appeared opposite Jake Gyllenhaal inSource Code.

Joss Whedon has posted a message onWhedonesquestating he's going to start shooting the highly anticipatedAvengersmovie for Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios.

He wrote a letter to fans on the website, saying (in part):

"Tomorrow we start shooting (I THINK I'm legally permitted to say that). Day one. That's right. We'll be shooting the pivotal death/betrayal/product placement/setting up the sequel/coming out scene, at the following address:... Went too far. My bad. Anyhoo, it should be a fun day, followed by the eighty thousand other fun days it will take to finish this."

He finishes the letter saying,"...So wish me luck. DO IT! LUCK! NOW! I'm off to finish some Buffy pages, and then figure out what the movie is about already. I'm pretty sure it's about the Justice League {Marvel Lawyers re-enter, unspeakability occurs} or possibly something else. I'll get it. I've been looking forward to this. For about 46 years."

The Avengers will star many of the characters from the Marvel comics including, Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor.

It is set to hit theaters on May 4, 2012.

Jeremy Renner To Take Over Bourne Legacy

Universal Pictures has finally found its lead forThe Bourne Legacy.Jeremy Renner will play the main character in the spin-off of the Matt Damon franchise.

Renner will play a new undisclosed government operative who has come out of a dangerous program - even more dangerous than the one Jason Bourne came from.

Production onThe Bourne Legacywill begin in September.

Renner is currently starring with Tom Cruise in the upcomingMission: Impossible Ghost Protocoland is also playing Hawkeye in the upcomingThe Avengersfilm.  He will also star as Hanzel in the upcomingHanzel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.

Broadway Play Between Us To Become Feature Film

Julia Stiles, Taye Diggs, Melissa George, and David Harbour are all attached to star in the film adaptation ofBetween Us, based on Joe Hortua's off-Broadway play of the same name.

The play follows two couples who were friends in school, but periodically meet throughout their lives, creating rivalries between the ambitious couples.

The film, directed by Dan Mirvish, who also wrote the script with Hortua, is set to start shooting in May.

The play originally opened at Manhattan Theatre Club in 2004.

Fox Searchlight's Homework Renamed The Art of Getting By

Fox Searchlight acquired the movie at Sundance this year where it was originally titledHomework.  The film, starring Freddie Highmore and Emma Roberts, is still on track to be released in June, but it now has a new title. 

The film will now go by the titleThe Art of Getting By. 

The film follows George and Sally, a pair of teens who become unlikely friends.  George has manage to get through high school without doing much of anything, whereas Sally is a popular, but complicated girl.  The two share a special bond.

Directed by Gavin Wiesen,The Art of Getting Byis set to be released on June 17 before expanding to a wider release in July.

Ben Affleck Not Starring in The Great Gatsby

Ben Affleck will not be able to join the cast of Baz Luhrmann'sThe Great Gatsby,despite reports that said he was in talks to join the cast.

According toDeadline, Luhrmann was courting Affleck and offered him the role in early April.  The film will shoot in Australia and that doesn't work with Affleck's schedule.  He is committed to directing the filmArgoabout the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. 

Leonardo DiCaprio will star as Jay Gatsby, Carey Mulligan will play Daisy Buchanan, and Tobey Maguire has signed on to play Nick Carraway.

Warner Bros. is also in talks with Isla Fisher to play Myrtle, the woman Buchanan is cheating on Daisy with.

Ryan Gosling For Disney's The Lone Ranger?

Ryan Gosling may be one of a few actors looking to play the lead role in Disney'sThe Lone Ranger.  The film is an update of the classic Western, this time directed by Gore Verbinski.

Johnny Depp is already locked into the role of Tonto, but Disney is still looking for its lone ranger.

The Lone Ranger is never seen without his mask and is the survivor of an ambush on six Texas Rangers by an armed gang -- all but one is left dead.  The story started out on the radio in the 1930s and ended up as television specials in 1949 and 1957.  Now it's set to become a motion picture.

Gosling is a busy man, starring in 2012Logan's Runand 2013'sGangster Squad.He's also set to appear in the Steve Carell comedyCrazy, Stupid, Lovecoming out later this year.

Friday Fun: Why Don't People in Movies Say Goodbye When Hanging Up The Phone?

This is aninteresting findfrom Entertainment Weekly and one we thought was funny enough to share. 

Isn't it customary to say goodbye when you're hanging up the phone?  For real people it is, but in the movies - apparently not!

Director John August points this out in a recent blog post saying,"Movie characters hang up the phone earlier than actual people would. I’m not sure this is wrong, per se. Movie dialogue in general is a heightened, optimized version of how real people talk. In many of these examples, adding a last goodbye would feel odd."

It makes sense, at the end of this clip when a lot of the characters simply say thank you - although real people would still say goodbye!

New Trailer: Daydream Nation

The trailer forDaydream Nationlooks pretty good -- it's a coming of age film, with a twist.

Kat Dennings stars as Caroline Wexler, a teenager who is forced to move with her widowed father from the big city to a tiny town.  She pursues her teacher, Mr. Anderson (Josh Lucas) when she realizes she has nothing in common with her peers.

EXCLUSIVE: Aimee Teegarden Talks About her Role in Scream 4 and Working with Director Wes Craven

Aimee Teegarden is a very busy actress.  She has two movies coming out in one month.  Reel Movie News had the chance to speak with Aimee today about a few projects she currently has in the works. Aimee was on a press tour, but we were able to squeeze in some questions aboutScream 4. Stay tuned for more from her aboutProm.

Talk to me about your role in Scream 4.

There’s very little I can say. I play Jenny Randall. She’s in high school with all of the other girls. That’s about all I can say.

Were you excited to work with the cast? Who are most of your scenes with?

Most of my scenes are with Brittany Robertson. The cast was crazy and phenomenal. I was most excited to work with Wes Craven, director of such an iconic genre of movies. It was a bit mind-blowing to work and collaborate with him.

Had you watched the other Scream movies?

I have, yes.

Are you a scary movie fan or scared easily?

Not really. I’m a fan, but I’m not scared by spiders and bugs. I’m sure if someone came at me with a giant knife and a ghost face on it’d be a bit freaky.

Sony Will Distribute James Bond 23& 24

Sony Pictures has officially been named the distributor for the next two James Bond movies for MGM.  The two studios announced in a joint press release today that the 23rd Bond film has been given a November 9, 2012 release date. 

The two companies will also be co-financing and distributing James Bone 24 in the future, although no other information was given on that venture.

"Sony Pictures is the ideal studio partner for us as MGM re-enters the filmmaking business. We have longstanding relationships with Michael and Amy and look forward to what promises to be a prosperous future together,"said MGM co-chairs Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum.

Sony Pictures released the last two Bond films and both did very well in the theatrical market.  MGM has been going through some major changes, so the distribution rights were up in the air, until now.

Bradley Cooper To Take On Eric Draven in The Crow Reboot?

Bradley Cooper may be in early negotiations to star in the reboot ofThe Crow, based on the comic created by James O'Barr.

Relativity Media recently announced it is going to make a reboot of the 1994 film.

The reboot will focus on the character of Eric Draven, played by Brandon Lee in the 1994 version.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was previously announced as the film's director and Nick Cave is set to write the scripe.

Heat Visionreports that Cooper recently met with Fresnadillo in Spain where the two hit it off.

Cooper can currently be seen inLimitlessand the upcomingThe Hangover Part II.

Lemonade Mouth's Hayley Kiyoko Talks Joining a Band, Touring with Justin Bieber

Disney Channel's Original MovieLemonade Mouthis set to air for the first time this Friday, April 15 on Disney Channel.

The film follows a group of teens who meet in detention and end up forming a band in order to deal with the struggles of high school.

Hayley Kiyoko plays Stella Yamada, the group rebel, who wants to make friends as she's the new girl at school.  She is also an aspiring musician herself and has been on tour with Justin Bieber.

Tell me about Lemonade Mouth.

Lemonade Mouth is about five teenagers who come from different walks of life and they band together to make a difference in the school. While doing so, they develop this wonderful friendship and they go along this awesome musical journey.

 Tell me about your character.

I play Stella Yamada, and she is the rebel in the group. She’s very spontaneous, which definitely gets the group into trouble. {laughs} A lot of repercussions. She’s the new girl at school and she just wants to be heard because her family doesn’t really pay attention to her. She kind of uses the band as a machine to make a difference.

Can you relate to Stella?

Absolutely. Actually, when I was a junior in high school I started a band and I didn’t know any of the guys. We basically just starting playing and playing and we became best friends, it’s kind of like the story line, but we’re still best friends to this day. We became the band to go to in Agoura Hills. I was the front woman. I definitely am a leading in that same sense and I like to make things happen. She’s definitely a more intense version than I am.

 What were you like in high school?

I was known as the girl who was friends with every group at the school. I never really had my own group; I was just friends with everyone. I was on the student council, I was on the dance team, I did musical theater, and I was in every single group. During lunch I would float around to each table. {laughs} Once I started my band, I started to find my best friends and my own group.

 These students meet in detention. Have you ever gotten detention?

I was never in detention. I would never do anything to make myself be in detention. I was the kind of girl who got really upset if I was yelled at in class.

If you had gotten detention, what would it have been for?

Probably for something very ridiculous, like going to the bathroom too many times or having too many absences. I would never disobey unless it was something really important that I had to fight for like in the movie.

 Did you read the novel before landing the role?

It was a quick process. I auditioned for the role and when I found out I got it I was on tour at the time with Justin Bieber and my mom sent me the book in the mail. I had two weeks to read it before we started shooting. The book is absolutely hilarious and witty. I recommend it to anyone.

Did you have Justin read it?

{laughs} No, he doesn’t have time for that.

 What else do you have in the works?

I’m working on my solo music. I write alternative music. I’m just going with the flow, and I’m up for a few projects.

Casting Time: Who Should Play Jackie Robinson?

We reported yesterday thatRobert Redford's filmabout baseball legend Jackie Robinson is finally in motion after years of desire to make the film.

Brian Helgeland is officially on board to write and direct the untitled film that will focus on the relationship between Brooklyn Dodgers manager Branch Rickey and the baseball legend.

Redford is already set to star as Rickey, but who should play Jackie Robinson, who was 28 when he first played for the major leagues - there are so many talented actors out there who could do the role justice.  Who would you want to see appear as the baseball great?

We need a young star - Denzel Washington is too old for the role now, as is Will Smith - maybe someone more or less unknown to help raise their profile?

Anthony Mackie- Our number one pick!  Mackie played a central role in the Oscar winningThe Hurt Locker,alongside Jeremy Renner and definitely held his own.  He was also a supporting role inMillion Dollar Babyand recently did a great job inThe Adjustment Bureau,alongside Matt Damon.  He would be perfect for this role and he has proven he has the acting chops to do it.

Derek Luke- He appeared in the biopicNotoriousand was very good in the Tyler Perry comedyMadea Goes to Jail.He was also great as the cocky football player on the popular TV seriesFriday Night Lights.Perhaps his most impressive role to date was in Denzel Washington'sAntwone Fisher.  We think he would be a great choice.

Brandon T. Jackson- He was awesome as a gay rapper in the comedy Tropic Thunder and proved he could hold his own in a fantasy adventure film withPercy Jackson and the Olympians: Lightning Thief. We would love to see this young actor in something else - perhaps something more serious.

Ben Affleck in Talks to Join The Great Gatsby

Ben Affleck is in talks to join Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan in the new adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novelThe Great Gatsby.

According toThe Hollywood Reporter,Affleck would play Tom Buchanan in the new film directed by Baz Luhrmann for Warner Bros. Pictures.

The film follows the story of Jay Gatsby, who moves to a small town in Long Island for the summer.  He is part of new money and throws elegant parties at his mansion.  He is also in love with Daisy Buchanan, whom he knew years before.  Daisy is now married to Tom Buchanan.

Mulligan will play Daisy Buchanan,  DiCaprio will play Jay Gatsby, and Tobey Maguire is set to play Daisy cousin and the narrator of the novel, Nick Carraway.

The Great Gatsbyis set to start production in August.
